There are five major components to finding the right paralegal for your position - research, search, interview, present and recruit:

Research - Abelson Legal Search recruiters ideally secure a complete job description or other relevant information about a position to be filled. We ask the necessary questions to enable us to narrow the search to only the most qualified candidates.

Search - When we initiate a search for a firm or corporation, we utilize our database of hundreds of the area’s top paralegals and conduct independent research to identify other skilled paralegals in the region. Our goal is to identify candidates with the combination of academic ability, practice area experience and personal characteristics you requested. Once identified, we scrutinize every aspect of paralegals’ backgrounds to ensure they have the kind and level of experience to do the job. As part of our screening process, we conduct thorough reference checks, speaking with each reference to verify candidates’ competency and dates of employment.

Interview - We conduct lengthy interviews with candidates. We get to know them and will screen out candidates who are not right for you. During the interview process we note candidates’ levels of professionalism, attitude and personal appearance. We analyze their motivation for changing positions and examine the specifics of their legal experience. We look for the qualities that would make candidates a good fit for you.


Present and Recruit - After we have matched your position with strong candidates and obtained an assurance of confidentiality, we reveal the identity of the hiring firm or corporate legal department. Once we have obtained candidates permission to make an introduction, we present you with their resumes, a letter of introduction, writing sample or any other documents requested. When you have identified a candidate, we will coordinate the interview. We are available throughout the process to answer any questions and to serve as a go-between for any sensitive issues. When the offer is accepted, we assist the paralegal in making a smooth transition.
